Mary is an award-winning, dynamic educator, consultant, and health advocate who works with dental and healthcare providers and community organizations to improve health outcomes. Mary’s articles have appeared in the Journal of Public Health Dentistry and American Dental Hygienist’s Association Access. She is the recipient of the 2017 American Association of Public Health Dentistry Award for published research on dental care and the frail elderly, the 2009 Sunstar Award of Distinction, and the 2009 ADHA Crest Excellence in Dental Hygiene Award.
Mary has an MS in Dental Public Health from the University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry and a BS in Dental Hygiene from Loyola University of Chicago. Mary’s experience ranges from directing an evidence-based Dementia Prevention program, researching oral disease in the elderly, to providing oral hygiene care in nursing facilities and early childhood centers. Mary also is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and a CPR Instructor for the American Heart Association and Red Cross.
